Mini Biography
His first exposure to 'magic' was as a child, having vague memories of his father entertaining friends with magic tricks a few times. Around the age of ten learned to play chess, various card games and his first card tricks from a family friend. Another couple of years go by and he becomes the kid in school that could do a few card tricks. As a teenager discovered a novelty/magic shop in London and increased his 'repertoire' with a few tricks bought here.
Through the 1970's continued to amuse close friends with the odd trick, inspired by the likes of David Nixon, Paul Daniels, Doug Henning etc. on the TV.
Moving on to the mid 1980’s delved a little deeper into the art of magic and searched the local bookshops and libraries in Nottinghamshire and was surprised to discover only a handful of books on the subject. He read all that was available and kept up the search for more. Came across a small shop in Nottingham that sold bits and pieces of
magic and the guy that ran it mentioned a local magician called David Charles who had recently won a magical championship in Blackpool. He tracked him down to his home and went to see him and learned about the Nottingham Guild of Magicians (and got sold a few close-up props!).
Some months later at the American Adventure Theme Park met a magician performing close-up tricks at a table. Mentioned to him that he also did one of the effects he was doing, got chatting about the Nottingham Guild, of which he was a member and was encouraged to pay them a visit. Eventually did and decided to practice a routine and apply for membership.Following an audition in November 1989 was accepted as a member.
Soon after this found himself in Davenports in London, buying a bunch of kid’s magic props, as one of the staff at work had promised her granddaughter hewould do a magic show for her birthday party now that hewas a ‘real magician.’
After almost twenty years of practice and performance decided to apply for membership of The Magic Circle and was invited down to London for an interview and one month later returned to London, auditioned and was accepted
as a member in June 2007.
